FAQ - Frequently asked questions
Essential information you need to know to install a padel court
What are the first bureaucratic steps for those who want to install a padel court?
1. First, you need to identify the location (a plot of land or a warehouse).
2. Then it is advisable to contact the relevant technical office and request the necessary authorizations.
3. To do this, it is advisable to appoint a local technician who can assess the feasibility of the project and oversee it. Their tasks will include preparing the necessary documentation for the installation of an above-ground metal structure.
On what types of land can a padel court be built?
The most suitable surface is one intended for commercial/sports use, on which it is always mandatory to install a concrete screed.
In every municipality, feasibility must always be verified and architectural, urban planning, and structural constraints must be checked. If the land is not zoned for commercial/sports use, a change of use must be requested from the municipality.

Does Italian Padel carry out on-site inspections?
Yes, of course!
We have local representatives in Italy and abroad, but it is essential that the customer has a designated technician with whom our representatives can liaise in order to carry out all the necessary assessments and avoid unnecessary site visits.
Without a preliminary feasibility study, it would be pointless to carry out site inspections because the fundamental prerequisite for the construction of the field would be missing.
Is it worth building a padel court? Yes: Here are the advantages of padel, with figures to back it up.
A padel court requires about 1/3 of the space (200 square meters) compared to a tennis court (648 square meters).
It is a very profitable investment – in fact, it is the sport that has had the highest growth rates in terms of membership and players over the last five years.
A padel court is relatively inexpensive and has a medium to long lifespan (around 20 years), depending, of course, on the quality of the materials used.
In each match, a total of four players face off, two on one side and two on the other, and the match lasts one hour and 30 minutes.
The average cost per game is €12 per player, excluding balls and rackets, for a total of €48 per game (90 minutes). Considering that smaller clubs organize two games every 24 hours on weekdays and five games every 24 hours on holidays, this amounts to an estimated €3,840 per month, which is more than €45,000 per year for each court installed.
In addition to these earnings, there is also income from the club's internal shop, which sells clothing, balls, and rackets. On average, balls need to be replaced every three games, and a regular player replaces their racket every four months.
Padel courts for resorts, hotels, cruise ships, companies, and private individuals: Where can a padel court be installed?
Padel is not only an opportunity for sports clubs, but can also be an opportunity for those who offer recreational services to their customers, such as hotels, resorts, and cruise ships.
In recent years, with the spread of the internet, these businesses have had enormous difficulty in finding new customers, as we have reached a point where buyers are faced with a huge number of accommodation options, with increasingly competitive and similar prices. At this point, a winning strategy may be to differentiate oneself in the services offered, by being the first to offer something that others do not yet offer.
A padel court could therefore enhance the appeal of your offering compared to that of your competitors, with a modest investment.
But demand is constantly growing, and not just from commercial businesses: many private individuals and companies are also requesting the installation of a paddle tennis court on their premises—for daily training or to expand the recreational area for their employees.
How much space is needed to build a padel court? Less than a tennis court. Here are all the measurements.
The main measurements of a paddle tennis court are:
Length: 20 meters.
Width: 10 meters.
The free space of the playing surface must be 7 meters.
Padel courts can be located both outdoors and indoors (covered courts).
The quality fields consist of:
A base (also known as the playing surface) of the playing field that must comply with the characteristics required by the design drawn up by an engineer. This work must not have any imperfections such as depressions and/or ridges.
Poles and nets made of hot-dip galvanized iron with anti-corrosion welding and an anti-abrasion cover profile.
12 mm laminated glass.
What are the models of padel courts? We have two: Deluxe and Panoramic.
Italian Padel offers several models of courts ready for installation: Deluxe, Panoramic, Vision Prestige. They differ in terms of features and prices.
DELUXE model structure: This is an elite model featuring glass that is flush with the metal mesh.
FEATURES:
- 12 mm thick laminated glass, coplanar and structural
- Abrasion-resistant profile
- Perimeter support posts with reinforcement
- Lighting poles angled toward the outside of the field
- Optional: the four poles in the corners can be customized with the customer's logo and can be backlit.
DELUXE is the range chosen by sports centers, beach resorts, and accommodation facilities. It combines a price in line with other products on the market with high-quality finishes and improved professional playability thanks to its coplanar glass.
PANORAMIC model structure: This is an elite model which, as it has no rear posts, guarantees greater visibility, creating the effect of a giant cinema screen.
FEATURES:
12 mm thick laminated glass, coplanar and structural
Transparent glass retaining discs
Abrasion-resistant profile
Glass fixing on the ground
Lighting poles angled toward the outside of the field
Perimeter support posts with reinforcement
Optional: the four poles in the corners can be customized with the customer's logo and can be backlit.
The PANORAMICO model is the court provided by Italian Padel where some of the best players on the World Padel Tour played in Rome, in conjunction with the 2016 international tennis tournament.
Padel champions have recognized it as one of the best courts in the world we have played on, and it has been praised for its quality and playability. Two sides of this model are made entirely of glass (uninterrupted by the metal structure), allowing spectators optimal visibility of the game, free from any obstacles.
It looks like a design field with a modern and attractive metal structure.
PADELBLOCK platform
Self-supporting and self-leveling, it allows you to install a padel court in areas or clubs without concrete flooring—for example, near beaches or inside unused soccer fields, or in environments with architectural or environmental constraints.
Building a paddle tennis court: permits and authorizations
Given that any reputable manufacturer is able to provide the necessary assistance, including with regard to bureaucratic matters, the following should be taken into consideration:
When building a paddle tennis court, it is important to be aware that the construction work is subject to national technical building regulations. It is therefore necessary to consult the technical office of your local municipality to verify whether you need to submit the correct building permit application, such as:
DIA, SCIA, CIL, or CILA with the appointment of qualified technicians, who will also have to carry out an assessment of the nature of the terrain, the presence of wind, etc.
In order to exclude civil or criminal liability of managers and owners, it is essential to follow the correct bureaucratic procedure for construction, identifying companies that can guarantee products that comply with building and structural regulations with an adequate guarantee of durability, estimated at least 15/20 years.
How much does a padel court cost?
So we come to the crucial question: how much does it cost to build a padel court?
The installation of an outdoor padel court on undeveloped land requires permits and inspections (concessions and authorizations—such as geological reports, seismic reports, municipal permits such as CIL/CILA/SCIA/DIA), and possibly supervision and civil engineering. The installation of a court requires:
- the correct bureaucratic procedure (which eliminates the risk of future penalties),
- the involvement of various professionals who ensure the proper execution of the work,
- the use of NTC 2018 certified materials with wind resistance exceeding 100 km/h (which allows us to provide a 10-year warranty on the structural part).
All this brings the total cost of building the court, starting from undeveloped land, to approximately €30,000–35,000. Italian Padel is able to support its customers throughout the entire process (including the bureaucratic aspects) from design to opening of the center, and also points out that proposals for the installation of courts at much lower costs are a likely sign that something will not be done properly and in accordance with current regulations.
